Official Grammy® nominee for Best Regional Roots Music Album.
GRAMMY® nominated kumu hula (hula teacher) Keali'i Ceballos and Hālau Hula Keali'i o Nālani present musical highlights from three decades as a hālau (hula school) in this magnificent performance at the Getty Center, co-presented by the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. From ancient Hawaiian chants to the groundbreaking Papahānaumoku, a chant in a rhythmic meter of seven, to classical and Latin-infused songs in the Hawaiian language—their kahiko (traditional) and 'auana (modern) repertoire evinces their boundless talents that have garnered them hundreds of awards in hula festivals. They are joined on this album by musical guest The Daniel Ho Trio.
